Designed for Speed

This tea journal is designed for ease of use. It’s tough to hold a notepad in one hand, a pencil in the other, and have another hand left for your cup. Taking notes with 33 Teas is as simple as checking a few boxes and entering a few basic facts.

The Flavor Goes to 11 ... Err, 20

All my other tasting journals have 16-spoke flavor wheels. That number is generally sufficient to capture most products' high-level flavors.

Tea is different. It has by far the most broad flavor spectrum of any of the books I've produced thus far. It's subtle, but complex. So I had to add 4 more spokes. 33 Teas' flavor wheel has 20 qualities listed designed to capture tea's wide range of flavors.

The flavor wheel in 33 Teas can be used to quickly recall a tea's unique flavor long after consumption. For low values of the flavor, fill in dots near the wheel’s center. An organic black tea from India is used in the example shown at right.

Secret Ingredient

A teeny, tiny amount of real tea is added to the ink in each new edition, which is cryptically noted on the back.
