"When diet is wrong, Medicine is of no use. When Diet is correct, medicine is of no need." –– Ayurvedic Proverb
According to the ancient Indian system of medicine called Ayurveda (“science of life”), human beings are like the Universe, we are made up of each of the five elements: Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. These elements combine in the human body to form three life forces or energies called doshas: Vata (space and air), Pitta (fire and water), Kapha (water and earth).
Every person has a unique combination of doshas, each controlling different bodily functions. A disruption in the balance of these energies can lead to poor health. Ayurveda focuses on the delicate balance of dosha energies using yoga, meditation, diet and herbal treatments. These principles go a long way in regaining and maintaining the balance required to enjoy health in mind, body and spirit.
Yoga, meditation and diet have long come together to form a complete Ayurvedic approach for optimal health, vitality and higher awareness.
Yoga
Ayurveda recommends customized yoga poses and breathing for each unique dosha along with certain poses for certain times of day, the seasons and weather conditions.
Meditation
Meditation techniques are used to calm the mind and bring peace to our mind, body and spirit. If you are new to meditation, or have experience with it, a tea meditation is a great tool to calm the mind and develop embodied awareness. We have a guided tea meditation on our events page here.
Diet
Diet is considered to be the best way to keep your dosha in balance and help fight sickness and disease. Recommended foods, herbs and teas are formulated to balance and energize each specific dosha.
Our collection of Ayurvedic Teas are formulated in accordance with these principles.
